Pink Eye and Rashes Stink

We like to go against the norm...believe it or not Ashton may be allergic to sweet potatoes which is pretty unusual. So we're back on the milk only diet which breastmilkaholics prefer anyway. Since I was trained so well at Emory to document everything, I will document so he can see years from now that yesterday I was up at 3:30 am pumping milk for him so he will have enough to eat. Craziness.
Also got pink eye after going for his 6th month check-up.
Good news though...he won't have to wear a helmet! Special shout out to First Baptist Church of Tucker Senior Adult Women's Sunday school class who has been praying very hard thanks to my grandmother! It is truly an answer to prayer! Here are some pictures from this week of him doing some physical therapy on his workout ball (actually my mom AKA Mimi's workout ball).

BA Meetings

"My name is Ashton and I'm a breastmilkaholic."We attempted to give Ashton his first bottle of formula this week and as I mentioned, he threw it all up. We tried again with breast milk added but he is not fooled... lips shut, body arched, and head flailing he will have none of it. So right now I'm nursing for 45 minutes which is a long time! With him growing so much and while working, I can't seem to keep up with him and need to be able to supplement with some formula! It's actually pretty stressful. Not only that, but he is not liking the rice cereal either. In fact, he spits it out...all over us! It was hard not to laugh at first and I also tried a firm, "NO" but it doesn't seem to phase him. He has already been to Swaddler's Anonymous as our friend Nan called it when she realized he was still being swaddled for sleeping at five months. Well this week with his six month b'day, I think we broke the habit! We started swaddling him and leaving one arm out, then both, and now he sleeps in a sleep blanket, arms free. I just hope Breast milk Anonymous goes as well as the swaddlers. Tonight I am attempting to make my first babyfood-sweet potatoes. I am hoping to make all of his food but we'll see how it goes. I hope he likes it better than the rice since the orange probably stains when he spits it on us!

My Week

I had to write about so many crazy things that happened this week. Last weekend, while Wes was out of town, we had an exciting time...first an offer on our condo that didn't work out, then my car battery died when I was on the way to Ashton's appointment. A neighbor jumped us and we went to Advanced Auto Parts to get a new battery where an older gentleman (just another customer) argued with the employee about how to fix my car while looking under the hood, the employee won and proceeded to install the battery and share with me his life story which was really interesting about how he is trying to get into pharmacy school and was laid off at IBM etc, etc, a random guy gave me his "business card" while we were there that apparently hangs out at Advanced auto parts doing repair work. Then when we got home and took Haley for a walk, she rolled in something disgusting while I wasn't looking, so she had green slime all over her back that smelled horrible. I thought it could be something that had died and she rolled in the remains so I had to bathe her by myself which is no easy task. Then this week on Tuesday I woke up and stepped in Haley's vomit she had left in the night and had to clean it up. I dealt with vomit and the flu all day at work and came home to find Ashton taking his first bottle of formula ever with Wes which he threw up afterwards all over our dining room and while i was cleaning it up(trying not to vomit myself) Haley kept trying to lick it up. Gross. It reminded me of Kate on John and Kate Plus 8 saying she was so sick of dealing with poop. I was so sick of dealing with vomit and Ashton wasn't even sick, thankfully. Then yesterday at work while i was pumping in my office, I head a "cockle doodle doo"...one of the doctors had bought a rooster and had it dropped off at the office where he kept it in a box all afternoon! Everytime he took it out to show someone, the rooster thought it was morning so we heard it crowing quite a bit. Needless to say, it has been a crazy week and Ashton just got 7 immunizations so the weekend should be fun too! Here are some more recent photos I like. The hat was Wes' baby hat!

Look at Me at Six Months!

Happy Six Month Birthday to Ashton (and Audrey and Luke later this week)! We celebrated with brunch at Sweet Melissa's and a trip to a Decatur park. Thanks to the Fosters who tried out the baby swing with Audrey a few weeks ago and let us know the babies could fit in them now. Maybe we'll always let them pave the way on safety issues! Just kidding Audrey!

Smiles, Cereal, and Toes!

I've missed posting pictures the last three months while we have been having computer issues! Hopefully it is all worked out now, so here are some highlights since Christmas/New Year's . This is from a few weeks ago while Wes was on the phone (over TEN HOURS) with Dell. I thought Ashton might take a nap in his swing but this is what I found when I walked in his room...I think he knew he should be sleeping! The pillow behind him was a sweet gift from a band mom. It is specially made for his neck problem which by the way is doing so much better! We're still going to therapy twice a month and he has a second head scan today to determine whether or not he will have to wear a helmet. We are really hoping he won't need it!

Solids! This is Ashton's first taste of rice cereal!

This is from a visit with one set of my grandparents-Ashton's great grandaddy Earl who he adores!

This is from a visit with the Siples-Lelia and Ashton looked so cute together and we're excited about her new baby brother on the way!
