Countdown to Collin

Some pictures of the boys' room that we finished this week. Thankfully, Pottery Barn sells the matching comforter to the bumper and quilt set we used for the crib so the beds match! Notice Ashton's firetruck sheets which he loves as well! He has adjusted so well to the twin bed over the past few months. We added more stars and Collin's name to the wall as well as shelves for all the knick knacks. We really love the way it all came together. At first there were tears shed about having to have all this stuff in the one tiny room but we made it work!

These are all special things we got when Ashton was born and we hope to add Collin's stuff soon! The giraffe is from my brother's Safari in south Africa shortly after Ashton was born and I love the mother and baby elephant picture also from that trip! The cross is from my parents for Ashton's baby dedication and the other picture is all of our family on his dedication day. The silver cup is from Wes's sister and her family and the wagon had flowers in it sent to us from work.

This chest of drawers was in my mom's room when she grew up, and then my room, and I took it to college and painted flowers all over it. Wes has worked on stripping and refinishing it this summer and I found some cute baseball knobs-it turned out great!

The crazy packed changing table full of stuff! We're crammed in alright!

Random picture-Helping daddy blow up beach balls last week.

Last week was crazy!!! Ashton's ear swelled up from a mosquito bite-poor little guy. Looked like Will Smith in Hitch. It was HUGE and everyone at the pediatrician's office was impressed! Then last weekend, we ended up having Ashton's foot x-rayed because it got caught in a closet door and his ankle looked pretty bad. It turned out fine but this poor kid gets stuck at the doctor too often!

He was still smiling though!

Thomas the train day at Toys R Us! He is now completely brainwashed and LOVES Thomas. He carries around his Thomas toothpaste everywhere! It is pretty cool stuff!

A few random pics from a work shower I had a few weeks ago. I am so blessed to work with such sweet ladies! We got some great stuff for Collin and lots of essentials! We're ready for you and eating eggplant parm tonight buddy-please come on!!!!

Ashton's funny quotes.

I wanted to write down some funny things Ashton has said lately since I am awful with the baby book. Our blog will have to be our memorybook! He talks so much and so well to us but he's so shy that other people don't get to enjoy it.

1. At his babysitter's last week, she told Ashton, "I'm sorry Ashton. I've had trouble getting the lid on your cup all day." His response was, "yep!"
2. He has started asking us in the car lately if we see the trucks, cars, tractors, airplanes, bikes that he is quick to point out. He says, "Have you seen firetruck daddy?"
3. At our snacktime standoff I was trying to get Ashton to eat some ricemilk cheese and he kept begging for more strawberries. Finally he said, "I want bed and cry in bed"
4. Wes has taught Ashton to say, "All done, boss" to me when he is finished eating. I'm sure you can imagine how much I love this.
5. He is always saying, "Watch this guys" or "hi guys" to us! It cracks us up.
6. Tonight Ashton would not eat his chicken and kept begging for toast. I told him he could have some if he ate one more bite of his chicken. He ate three and spit them each out. I asked him again to eat another bite and he said, "I can't." When I asked why he spit them out he said, "Because...(they're) on bib." It was really hard not to laugh!

lately...

We went to see fireworks in Norcross this weekend. It as Ashton's first time and he was actually indifferent to them! He was way more excited about the train we saw and the golfcart full of policemen and the chips and salsa!

We also spent a day with my grandparents this weekend and enjoyed going to the park and playing with the cars and trucks my dad also played with!

My grandfather on the swing!

Me at 35 weeks!

Visit with cousin Edwin last week

We celebrated recently with a Texas sized farewell to our sweet Margaret since she and Daron will be moving this month. We're so sad to see her go but excited about their new adventure!

My cousin Laura and I at her baby shower. Grayson and Collin gave each other their first high five!

Beach!

We had a wonderful beach trip to St Simon's last weekend, but it took Ashton awhile to warm up to the beach again this year. He kept walking on his heels and crying to be picked up from the sand. You can tell by this first picture, he wasn't always a happy beach bum! He looks like a grumpy old man here! Here you can see that he wanted to play in it, but would never sit in it. He would sit as far away as possible, on top of Wes, and reach over the blanket to play with the sand.
Enjoyed sharing his Ritz with Haley. We loved having her there but she was also a bit prissy and not crazy about the waves.

Ashton started doing a fake smile for me and saying "Cheese" on this trip. I guess that's what I get for always having a camera in his face but come on, Where did he learn that?

Our kiddos, including Collin!

By the end of the first day, he started having more fun in the waves especially when I got him to wear his baseball cap. It was really strange. We called it his magic cap.

He loved that I had one too and always wanted me to wear mine as well. I did but at the sacrifice of lightening my hair-ugh, the ONE way I can show we've been to the beach since I would never tan! My belly cracks me up in this picture!!!

Love these that we took one cloudy night before sunset. Ashton was way braver that night and ended up getting so soaked we stripped him to his diaper by the end.

I guess this was our babymoon and Ashton's too since he had our undivided attention all weekend. No more being the only child buddy!

Last weekend, we had the Siple family visit! It was fun having three kiddos around! Little Matthew and Lelia are so cute and Ashton was much braver in the pool with them around. We had a great time and here are some pictures:
These are some shirts a friend of mine made for the Whereabouts groupies (that's the name of Wes and Matt's rock band and they have their first gig this fall)

What an adorable family photo!!

Here's a photo from my recent shower for Collin at Relish in Roswell. It was so yummy and great to see all the high school girls together again (minus Heather in Boston-we missed you!!) Ahhh, we've had some good times for many years!!!

Maddie, Mothers and Walks in the Rain

Ashton's new baby cousin and my "niece" Madelynn was born and we got to see her this weekend!! Isn't this a sweet photo with mommy, my cousin Heather?
Last weekend, we spent some time in Augusta and went to our favorite spot, the canal to take a walk.

There were ducks in our pool last week before it opened. They hung out every night and just swam. It was so fun to watch but I haven't seen them this week since the pool opened!

My sweet little monkey on Mother's Day! Only 10 more weeks until we have two little monkeys!!! This weekend, Wes and I went to the Norah Jones concert which was my birthday gift this year and Collin seemed to love it. He is a kicker!
Today Ashton and I were walking Haley and it started pouring rain on us. I kept trying to get him to walk faster but he was really enjoying it. Haley started running back and he was trying to keep up yelling, "I dunno, Raining! Raining! Haley 'scited!!!" No picture, but it was too funny!

A Few Requests

So last week Ashton woke up in the middle of the night which is very unusual. I let him cry a bit and then checked on him. He had a few requests...
1. "Mommy, I want policeman" This is his Little People police "officer" which is actually a woman but we call him policeman with a ponytail and Ashton loves him!
2. "Diaper change" It took me awhile to get over this but yes, he actually asked for a diaper change! I think that means it's time to pottytrain!
3. "See Daddy" We went to see daddy who was asleep but had been gone when I put Ashton to bed that night.
4. "Wanna Rock" so I said, "Ok for a minute" Then he fell back asleep.

Now tonight before bed he says, "Mommy, I wanna rock a minute" I couldn't believe it! So we rocked in our tiny rocker which is not an easy task because it's also with Collin (who was jumping around the whole time), Big Bird, Teddy Bear, Police"man", and Police Doggy who holds a stop sign. It sure is fun having a boy who knows what he wants!
