Who's That Coughing?

oh...of course! It's a York! We have all been sick this week and are sick of it! I dealt with it at work with super long days and then poor Ashton was sick last week with a cold and then Collin got croup and ear infections and now of course Wes and I caught it. But, the boys wore their "Christmas plaid" even though we were stuck inside and Ashton and I made gingerbread men, or as he called it"man toast" yesterday. Then last night we all got in the car to look at Christmas lights. Unfortunately, the wealthy houses off Briarcliff didn't have any gaudy decorations like we were hoping for until we found this one house that had a ton of stuff in the yard. I was so excited and we parked and were pointing out everything for Ashton until he finally said, "That's enough" Unsure of what I heard, I said, "What do you mean?" He says, "That's enough snowmen, that's enough Santas and that's enough Christmas trees...ok?" Wes and I were crying we were laughing so hard-this boy is way beyond his years. I mean, what 2 year old wouldn't like a tacky house decorated for Christmas?

Later, Ashton said his first prayer! We usually ask if he wants to say prayers at bedtime and before meals and he says no but last night, he just started praying, "Thank you God for our food and thank you for our day and Keep us safe!" It was so sweet!
The next pictures are a few weeks ago when we rode the pink pig with Patrick. Of course, Ashton LOVED it-just like Thomas...but a pig!
Here are some pictures from last week when we went to Bethlehem Morning at church which is a Christmas day for the kids they have every year with "Bethlehem" animals and arts and crafts. AShton had a ball and my parents came with us this year. Collin was a trooper the whole time. He's always along for a ride!
And finally, I have posted some pictures from out little cousin Maddie's Baptism last month. We weren't going to be able to go because it was the day of Collin's dedication at our church but again...Wes was sick so we had to cancel Collin's and the boys and I went to Maddie's and Collin still got to wear his outfit. My mom rode with us and we were running a little late as usual because I have a hard time getting out the door with these two. We parked at the church and literally ran inside lugging the two babies and all the junk that goes with them. The church looked different to me than what I had remembered but I didn't think too much of it until we got into the sanctuary and I checked the bulletin...it said Alpharetta Baptist and we were headed to Alpharetta Pres! I looked back at my mom and said," We're at the wrong church!!!" Thinking we were just at a different service at the right church she asks the usher, Where's the church where they are baptizing the babies??!! It was hilarious! The usher looked at her like she was crazy. I jumped in and said, "um...where's the Presbyterian church?" It was down the street. So we run back carrying all the junk and drive down the road. We did make it though and got to see the service. Ashton was great since he usually doesn't sit through church services being in the nursery. He got really thirsty though when they poured Maddie's water for the Baptism and said, "I want some water" I guess he thought we were all getting some!

Thanksgiving Turkey Twins

Here are our babies! Can you tell them apart? The first is Collin this Thanksgiving and the second is Ashton 2 years ago in the same shirt! Next is Ashton again and then Collin! I love putting their pictures side by side!

Our Thanksgiving Day
was so fun! We got to spend it at home which was a first for us. Wes' parents came and Ashton had a blast watching the parade and waving at Snoopy and Spongebob on tv. Then we played outside and ate our lunch. After nap, we all went to my parents and got to meet our new cousin baby Grayson for the first time! He and Collin are about 2 mos apart and I can't wait to see them play together soon!

Conversation with Ashton while coloring the other night...
me: "How's it going coloring?"
A: "it's not going well"
"Mommy, you gotta help these crayons" as he holds a broken one up.
"I can't get down because I'm busy", he says to Wes later.

Ashton is loving Christmas this year! He had fun helping me with the tree and
Every morning: "Mommy, is there a Christmas tree in the house?" I think he thinks it might go away while he sleeps. We are trying hard to teach him the real meaning of Christmas. So far, he seems to enjoy the wisemen bringing presents to Jesus. Yesterday he said, "and then Jesus gets to open presents!" He is so sweet playing with his Little People Nativity set!

Friday we were in Target shopping for his friends at daycare and a classic carol came on the radio. I can't remember if it was Bing Crosby or Burl Ives but he said, "Mommy, it's Burt singing!" haha It did sound like Burt!

Ashton picks up on EVERYTHING we say! Wes has been teasing me for changing Ashton on the ground on a blanket or rug because I think he is too big for the changing table. Wes says it is treating him "like a beast." This morning Ashton was waiting his turn for a diaper change while I was changing Collin. Finally he said, "Daddy, I want you to change me on the blanket... like a beast" He has no idea how funny that was!!!

Things I Like Lately...

Besides pumpkin lattes and peppermint mochas, here are some fun things I have been loving lately about November...
#1. Getting to use this supersoft Taggies blanket again with Collin now that it's cold. I just love Taggies stuff!
#2. Ashton is loving hats lately which is so fun for me since I don't have a girl to dress up! Yesterday and today, he wore this rainhat all day long! It just makes me smile as he walks around the house. Last night he ran to Wes when he got home with his hat on and greeted him with his usual, "How's your day?" When we ask about his day, Ashton usually says, "pretty good."
#3. I have been loving listening to Ashton talk to Collin on the baby monitor. One morning he said, "Collin, wake up! It's snack time!"
One evening he said, "Collin, did you have fun today?"
Yesterday morning before he got up he must have been thinking about a new diaper because I head him say, "mommy, you know the wipes, where they are? Collin, do you know the wipes, where they are?"

#4. I love that I declared it overall day today. Don't they look cute? Don't worry, I didn't drag mine out from high school.
#5. I love that Ashton helped me make cookies last week! He LOVES cherrybrook farms dairy free chocolate chip and so did we! In fact, one night at dinner when he wasn't eating he said, "I think I'm ready for my cookie now." By the way tonight he told me he wanted some water and then said, "Act'lly, I want that cup filled with milk."

#6. Audrey and Meg and their dog Clara came over last Friday night and we had so much fun while our daddies were at their football games. This picture of the kiddos hugging is priceless! While I am typing this, I got a text from Wes that said, "Season Over" because his team just lost their playoff game. Hallelujah!!!!! We have our daddy back! Anyway, I will try to post the video later of Ashton and Audrey running and giggling.
#7. Three month old Collin is so much fun! He giggles now when we kiss his belly and play pattycake. He loves to watch his big brother and has started reaching for things. We are just so thankful for him. I've forgotten how much fun this age is.
#8. I am loving the libary (as Ashton calls it). I've always loved it thanks to my mom and even worked there in high school (shout out Kate and Sarah). I hope he will always love to read as much as he does now. While we were there today, I was trying to find good Christmas and winter themed books and he kept asking for truck books. I was getting a little frantic trying to find anything with an automobile that would hold his attention while I looked.

#9. A friend from church made these awesome shirts for the boys.

#10. Johnson and Johnson's Lavender smelling calming babywash is soooooo delightful. Collin likes it too.

Curious George A and C

Bear with me...lots of pictures but Halloween was so fun this year! Ashton got to go trick or treating for the first time and loved it! Plus, it was Collin's first Halloween. My little monkeys looked so adorable but Collin didn't like his costume too much and fussed a lot. It was pretty hot for them. We all went trick or treating in my parents' neighborhood so it was fun seeing some old neighbors that had not met the boys. The highlight was a family I used to babysit for that now have a freshman at UGA! The mom said, "Blakely was one of the few babysitters who could handle two kids." How ironic that I am barely handling my own two kids 15 years later!!
Anyway, Ashton LOVED trick or treating. Wes had told him,"you're gonna dress in your monkey suit and go for a walk." This was all the explaining he needed. I was prepared with lots of dairy free treats and had researched on all my allergy mom blogs how they handled Halloween. I made some vegan brownies too with orange icing that were very yummy! Anyway, he ended up enjoying pretzels and raisins and one family gave out playdough which was awesome! The one thing he keeps bringing up today though is one house who had a scary looking wolfman that made a noise and freaked him out! Poor little guy started crying and he keeps talking about it today saying, "That noise scared me."It's amazing how that still stands out in his mind.
All in all it was a great night and the two little monkeys were very tired by the end along with the "zookeepers."
The other pictures are from a pumpkin patch last weekend! Happy Fall!

Carving the pumkin was so fun! Ashton loved helping Wes scoop out all the goop and seeds!

Showing Collin the pumkin

Our newest pumpkin

Trying to lift all the pumpkins and saying, "daddy, they're stuck!"

Not too sure at first...holding onto daddy's shorts
